25 randmoe things about me.

ok i just posted this on my facebook and multiply page. since i already thrashed this out there. might as bore you people here as well. if you ever find this site. . .

1. Oh... I just farted!

2. Im an only child, but i had an older Brother. (figure it out)

3. I was named after my grandmother because most of my cousins have been ripping off my grand fathers name.

4. Said grandmother used to bathe me with citrus juice and rub me with a rock, thinking it would make me whiter. (no such luck)

5. I would be crying during and after said bath. And the rest of the family would be laughing. (thank God my aunt stepped in)

6. I started drinking alcohol before i could walk.

7. My mother brought me to her college while she was a student. I was very popular. :D

8. Every time we would have visitors when i was i child, i would perform a song and then receive money. (shortly after i retired from showbiz to focus on my studies)

9. I was an honor student in pre-school. (They had Cable installed at home then... my grades went ... well...)

10. I cant splel that Goob.

11. I've had the same haircut since pre-school to high school, then the last few years of college.(flat top-really flat)

12. I have a love, (not so much as hate, but aversion to technology after watching "The Matrix").

13. I wish i could marry a nice Japanese girl. (ok Korean. No Chinese! Whatever, im not picky. Lucy Liu maybe?)

14. I want to be spider-man.

15. Member of the UST Judo Club.

16. Im probably working while your reading this.

17. I used to go drinking everyday in high school. These days it only takes one Red Horse to knock me out.

18. My first love is drawing. Second is sharpening pencils.

19. While i was a child i used my rubber flip-flops as erasers.

20. In school my classmates would have me perform by saying: "And now a solo by: Solo."

21. One time my father came home, I never recognized who he was.

22. I consider myself to be a very-simple person. But my collection of toys, cd's, dvd's, comics, books & others would say otherwise.

23. I want to build my house on a hill overlooking the sea.

24. I dont get it when Filipinos greet me with "Tumaba ka." or "You've gotten fat."

25. This year I almost died twice in Batad, Banaue. And i still want to go back there.

Horror Icon -Reboot-: The Wolfman

This is a sketch made in one sleepless night. browsing through the many photos on my hard drive... i saw this photo of the latest Wolfman movie. Thought i might give it a try.
And heres My Interpretation. . .



I have high hopes for this movie, as Ive never seen the original -i think-, I will be watching this with a virgin(not that i remember what that was like) point of view. Especially when you have Rick Baker on the make-up front.

Yoda

I drew this sketch while traveling around Samar two years ago. The Inn were bunking in ha a life size Yoda statue from Pepsi I beleive. That night i was having trouble sleeping, dont know why... since we were out-and-about all day. So I just went out to the dinning area where Yoda was standing and proceded to sketch. Thank goodness they didnt turn off the lights while I was still outside by-my-lonesome.

I drew this sketch a few months back after seeing "The Dark Knight" twice. I'm a BIG fan, I must say. And why not, hes is one of the Artists that gets better with every Project. In less than ten years hes may have already surpassed the legends before him. I can wait to see what he does next, Batman or No-Batman.

Batad '09

Two year after my first visit to the town of Batad, I return with the hope of relaxing and to still be in awe of its beauty. Needless to say I was not disappointed. These are a few memories i wish to share with you on my second, and hopefully not my last visit to Batad, Banaue.

..and was named Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive by PEOPLE magazine (Tyson got the nod in 2000). He is quoted describing himself in High School as such: "I was a nerd who could kick your butt." That reminds me of the roll Sinbad Plays in the 1991 film Necessary Roughness. A hard-ass football player with a PhD.


He(Mr. Tyson) is one the backers of the idea that Pluto is NOT a planet and has also recently published a book entitiled The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America's Favorite Planet (2009). The consequences of which include, receiving hate mail from 3rd Graders.

The New Year a New Start

Here it is, the start of a New Year, for me at-least. Fresh off my vacation from Batad, Banaue.
This may be the best time to start a blog.

This site will mainly be used to simply share.

I am simply a person of few words, though here i would like to exercise my writing muscles. And would also be using this site as a tool to showcase my interests.

There is time enough to say all, and quite simply right now the words or pictures are not coming to me. I hope you will have patience , to return here in the future to see or merely browse . Either way all are welcome.

Solo

Review: The Orphanage [2007]

A waft of the sea breeze comes in through your window while you sleep. You remember the memories of what it was like as a child to live here, happy and content. And the lighthouse outside your window no longer shines into your room.
I am not an all out fan of the Horror/Thriller Genre, especially with today’s crop of films from the mainstream wave. I like a good scare as much as the average person, that’s why I try to avoid it every chance I get.
But upon hearing of a project by a team of filmmakers that I avidly admire, I could not help but set my apprehensions aside.
The film revolves around a woman who has returned to the orphanage where she herself was taken care of. She has come with the hopes of turning the house into a home for her, her husband, son and other children which she hopes to adopt. Things take a turn when their son makes new friends [invisible friends] and subsequently disappears after fighting with his mother, during the opening party for the new children. And what follows for months is a draining search for their son.
During this search they take the council of doctors, paranormal experts and mediums. It is during the experience with the medium that they learn of their sons “friends” which may have not been make-believe after all.
The over all tone of the film is not what you would expect from the usual set of movies from this genre. Of course the whole film sets you up for different highs and lows for your emotions, delivering effective scares throughout. I found myself covering my eyes in most of the scary scenes, frightened at what the next frame holds.
But obviously this film is not your run of the mill horror show, complete with a full assortment of monsters. Though this film sports a very creepy child with a sack on his head, which most movie fans will be able to tie to the Scarecrow. Very limited in his actions and screen time but very effective, lingering in your mind long after the movie. The little details in this production set it apart from other movies in its genre. From the opening credits to the props and the nods to popular fantasy literature give the movie a character unseen in the genre and constant in the team’s production of films.
It is a breath of fresh air -even though most of the time you’ll be gasping for it. It IS a horror movie and it delivers, but what sets it apart is the story. It will -depending on your fright meter- scare you, and you will also be touched. Without a doubt.
